Marketing & Content Creator
Sterling Community Center is seeking a creative, detail-oriented team member to support our marketing and communications efforts through engaging content creation and design. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about storytelling, social media, and visual design, and excited to help shine a light on the mission and impact of our organization.
The Marketing & Content Creator will play a key role in developing and producing content across social media, web, email, and print—ensuring all materials are consistent, engaging, and aligned with the Sterling brand.
Reports To: Events & Engagement Manager
Work Location: Sterling Community Center, 2283 Main Street, Stratford, CT
Hours: 40 hrs/week | Typically Monday–Friday, 9:00–5:00pm
(Some flexibility required for occasional evening/weekend events)

Content Creation & Social Media
Create and schedule engaging content for social media platforms in alignment with the marketing needs of our programs and events (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Capture photos and videos of programs, events, and community moments
Write captions and short-form content that reflect Sterling’s voice and mission
Monitor engagement and interact with followers in a positive, community-centered manner
Graphic Design & Brand Alignment
Design flyers, brochures, event materials, signage, and digital graphics
Ensure all materials are visually consistent and aligned with Sterling’s brand
Assist in maintaining and evolving brand templates and visual identity
Website & Digital Content
Update and maintain website content to ensure accuracy and relevance
Create and schedule email marketing, in collaboration with departments. (i.e. e-blasts, newsletters, event promotions)
Support basic SEO and content organization efforts
Marketing Support
Assist in promoting programs, events, and initiatives across multiple platforms
Support departments with marketing materials and communications needs
Help coordinate timelines and content calendars for campaigns
Community Engagement
Attend select programs and events to capture content and support outreach
Help tell the story of Sterling through testimonials, highlights, and impact stories
Assist in the creation and distribution of press releases to support media engagement
Other Duties
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational initiatives
Support special events, community engagement efforts, and other projects as assigned
Serve as a positive representative of the organization in personal language, appearance, professionalism, and embodiment of our organization values
Qualifications & Attributes
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or current student/recent graduate) in marketing, communications, graphic design, or related field
Strong interest in social media, content creation, and visual storytelling
Experience with design tools such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite, Square Space, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
Experience managing social media accounts (personal, academic, or professional)
Photography and/or videography skills desired
Ability to lift 40lbs and drive company van when/if needed for events
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to learn
Passion for community work and interest in nonprofit mission-driven
